Stage Shows

Allan Jones gave many performances on the stage throughout his life. From 1931 to 1934, he was under contract with the Shubert brothers and sang with the St. Louis Municipal Opera Open-Air Theater in Forest Park and on Broadway. During and after his work in the film industry, he continued to perform on stage until his last days.

Allan Jones toured in this show with opera star Maria Jeritza before it opened on Broadway. By the time it reached Broadway, Jones and Jeritza were replaced by Robert Halliday and Natalie Hall, and the show was titled, “Music Hath Charms.” It was considered a failure and was Friml’s last work for the theater before he turned to writing film versions of musicals for the screen.
